Leipziger Messe International Joins Forces with Mechanical Engineering Trade Fair in Kazakhstan

Leipziger Messe International GmbH (LMI) is expanding its operations in Kazakhstan. From 2024, the Kazakh trade fair company AstanaExpo will organise the "Kazakhstan Machinery Fair" together with LMI. This industry trade fair is the leading mechanical engineering event in Central Asia. By partnering with one another, the trade fair companies aim to expand the fair's international reach. 243 exhibitors from 17 countries plus 3,470 trade visitors attended the last edition of the fair in Kazakhstan's capital of Astana last May. In parallel with the fair, members of the Kazakhstan mechanical engineering association gather for their annual meeting. As a result, the country's most important companies are present at the event.

The Free State of Saxony's strong ties with Kazakhstan and the growing cross-sector interest of German business in the country have paved the way for LMI's involvement. According to Thomas Horn, Managing Director of Saxony Trade & Invest Corp. (Wirtschaftsförderung Sachsen GmbH / WFS), the country has the largest economy in Central Asia, which it is currently working hard to modernise. That makes it a promising market for companies in Saxony, including as an alternative to the halted activities in Russia, Horn said during a delegation visit. The WFS states that Kazakhstan's mechanical engineering industry comprises 3,000 companies with around 120,000 employees.

With its trio of industry trade fairs – Intec, GrindTec and Z – and its national and international networks, the Leipziger Messe Group of Companies brings extensive know-how to the partnership. "We are looking forward to accompanying customers and partners at the Kazakhstan Machinery Fair in Astana and supporting them with their endeavours in this attractive market," says Markus Geisenberger, Managing Director of LMI. Saken Kanapjanow, Managing Director of Astana Expo, says: "We are delighted to have entered into this new partnership and would like to extend a warm welcome to our new partner, Leipziger Messe International. This collaboration is key to the development of the Kazakh trade fair industry. Working side by side with a leading German trade fair organiser opens up new avenues for both the Kazakhstan Machinery Fair and the local mechanical engineering industry."

LMI has been active in Kazakhstan for many years. It has organised multiple joint German appearances there on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action. The company has also represented Germany at the CADEX dentistry trade fair in Almaty since 2021.
